Inspired

I felt very lucky to be a student at L&C and especially be at cohort 3. I also very appreciated that our group is so tolerant and sensitive to each others needs. We are different, but we have similar needs: understanding, acceptance etc. I have to say that I’m very lucky to have teachers who inspires us to do good things for our community and more then community. Today Zaher told us his ethical principals and his volunteer work in Oregon and Afghanistan. Life in Afghanistan is very different then life in US. As you know I’m from Turkmenistan which borders with Afghanistan. A lot of needy people. They have many problems: poor economy, medical treatment/medication, sanitary/hygiene etc. The good things that the country is not so bureaucratic as US. People of Afghanistan are looking for good changes and willing except them. I read the Three Cups of Tea book and it seems that Zaher does the same as main character Mr. Monterson. When I was leaving a Turkmenistan 10 years ago, my neighbors and friends asked me “please remember us and help us when you will have a chance.” I feel that I have a moral obligation to that people, because my life is 99% better then theirs. I think Zaher has the same motivation. He is not building his career, his retirement account ( medical insurance can be a first priority, not to work oversees especially in Afghanistan) I hope that I can get my MA degree and make a difference in the world.
