I believe...

I believe teachers can make a difference. I feel like that statement has been thrown around a lot and not taken to heart. Everyone knows that there are good and bad teachers in this world because we have all experienced the variety of educators. Although, I am a firm believer that the teachers that want to make a difference can and will. Teachers have a lot of stress upon their shoulders, rather it’s from faculty, administration, parents, students, and/or the government but it’s important for each teacher to remember why they chose to go into teaching, for the children.
I believe children deserve the same opportunities within schools. It is hard for me to deal with knowing that children all receive such a variety of education. Some children get to experience small classroom settings with a plethora of resources while others are just another face in an oversized classroom with only a few books available. It’s frustrating to me that not every child gets the same educational experience and lot as to do with social class and opportunities. On top of that, I believe children should all be entitled to well-educated teachers that know how to relate to them by being educated about different cultures, heritages, religions, and so forth. I feel like children need to feel a sense of connection with their teacher to truly gain the respect that would enable them to learn to the best of their ability. I believe children deserve the right to share their background and be proud of their differences and similarities among their peers and never feel belittled.
The classroom is a place for a sense of community. A classroom should welcome every student and their differences and similarities. Schools should have welcoming arms for students and give them a feeling of belonging. I feel like a lot of children can have a pretty rough life outside of the schools walls and their classroom (and school) should be a place where they can feel safe, can speak their minds, use their minds, expand their minds, and gain a connection with peers and the teacher. A classroom is a home for the classroom ‘family.’
